Facing the Unknown

What’s happening with the NFL lockout?   Is there going to be a NFL season next year?  Are you worried?

I am asked these questions every day.  And my answer is, “you probably know more than I do.” We don’t get special inside information just because Corey is a NFL player. I wish we did, but we don’t. This situation is and will continue to be a waiting game for us.  We just wait it out until Corey gets a phone call telling him to come back to work.

If you watch ESPN, I’m sure you do know more about the lockout than we do. But the Lynch household doesn’t watch the sports channel very often.  I know it sounds a little strange…a professional athlete who doesn’t watch ESPN? Football is a job for Corey, and when he comes home from a full day of work, the last thing he wants to talk about is football.  So, we separate work and home.

The lockout does bring up one concern for us.  Let’s be honest, Corey is officially unemployed and we have no idea how long that will last.  The lockout could be a month or it might be a year.   The hardest part is waiting for an unknown outcome.

But in our waiting, Corey and I feel such a peace about all of this.  I have not spent one minute worrying about it. I can’t even sit here and write a long response about feeling insecure or angry because Corey and I know OUR God is in control.  He was OUR God when Corey had a job and he is still OUR God when Corey doesn’t have a job.  I can honestly say my heart is not the slightest bit anxious, but I am on my knees praying! I mean seriously, what would the fall be like with no football? I hope we don’t have to find out!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
