This week I saw a friend post a screenshot from her phone of the app, “Moment,” which records how many minutes you spend on your phone throughout the day. YIKES! That sounds terrifying and convicting.
I am going to be honest— I am not going to download the “Moment” app, because I don’t want to know the truth, because, I already know the truth. I am wasting countless minutes and hours of my life away checking status updates of people on Facebook, browsing Instagram pictures of people I don’t even know, reading too many opinion articles telling me what I am not doing right as a parent.
When my alarm goes off on my phone in the morning, I hit snooze, and when it beeps again, I swipe it and instantly look to see what I missed in the last seven hours while I was asleep in the social media world. It is the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do at night. Many nights I go to bed exhausted, I think, how could I give the world so much of my time, and God zero. I love Lysa Terkeurst’s quote
“We must exchange whispers with God before shouts with the world.”
So, that is why I am excited to start Proverbs 31 Ministries new app, “First 5.” This app will hold you accountable to giving God the first five minutes of your day. I promise you, this will start your day with a better perspective, a more positive attitude, and a better knowledge of who Jesus is and who he wants you to be.
Don’t waste another minute on your phone (other than going to the App Store and downloading your new favorite app, “First 5,”of course). Don’t only tell God He is first in your life, give him the first moments of your day.
