Changing a Woman’s Life

How about this Christmas you give a gift that will change a life? As you are shopping for loved ones, you can also shop for  others around the world too. And there is no need to fight the choas at the shopping mall. With one click you can browse and shop the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Catalog.

Time to Pack a Box

Thanksgiving is upon us. Which means, it is that time of year again. It is National Collection week for Operation Christmas Child.

Birthday Giveaway

In honor of my grandfather’s 96th birthday this Friday, I will be giving away copies of Billy Graham: God’s Ambassador. This is personally one of my favorite books. It captures my grandfather’s lifelong mission of sharing the Gospel around the world in hundreds of pictures, quotes, comments and personal reflections.

Cold Water Challenge

You may have heard rumblings on various social media sites about the popular Cold Water Challenge. But what is it?

The Cold Water Challenge is a spin-off of the Polar Bear Plunge that many take part in during the winter months to raise money for charity.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You are nominated to complete the challenge by someone who has done just that.
  2. You have 24 hours to complete the challenge AND donate a monetary contribution to the charity of choice as defined by the person nominating you.
  3. If you are unable to complete the challenge, you donate a greater amount to the charity the challenger named.
  4. The amount of the donations varies. The most common is $10 if you complete it, $100 if you do not.
  5. If you complete the challenge, upload the video of you completing it to Facebook or YouTube and nominate additional individuals to take the Challenge.

I was nominated by our family friends Tim & Christie Haas. While visiting my family in the mountains of North Carolina I took the Cold Water Challenge in plunge style with their son, Wes, in honor of Operation Heal Our Patriots, a project of Samaritan’s Purse.

I am nominating my dad and Alison & Bobby Idol and their entire family. You have 24 hours to take the Cold Water Challenge or donate to your favorite military charity. (Dad has promised to take the plunge in Alaska within 24 hours of returning from Western Europe.) And Wes has nominated my brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Kristy Graham.

There have been some reports of people getting injured while taking the Cold Water Challenge by jumping in cold waters they aren’t familiar with. Please be safe in completing the challenge. Do not jump into water that you do not know the depth. Never dive into water you cannot see through.

Dad’s Selfie

It has been a long time coming, but my dad has finally embraced social media.  My dad does not need any more reasons to be glued to his phone, but it is pretty hysterical at a football game when I look over and he is posting a picture on Instagram.

A Year of Fear and Joy

As I sit down with my computer in my lap and as my fingers take the keyboard, I think of how long it has been since I’ve sat down to write. “Write,” a word that has seemed to be a burden to me these last 12 months.

My Grandfather’s Hope for America

This week my grandfather turns 95. Most people his age would have retired many years ago, but he has continued to work in to his golden years because he feels that God’s calling on his life isn’t through.

Graham Family Together

I t is not too often that my dad and his siblings are all together in one place.  But last week they were all able to sit around the lunch table and spend some precious time with my grandfather, at home, in Montreat, NC.

Dad + Motorcycles + Sturgis

I have always been amazed at the different outlets my dad has to share the love of Christ. There is nothing better when you see people combine their personal passions with the opportunity to talk about Jesus.

Israel: Babymoon With My Dad

I call this a babymoon, because, for those who do not know, Corey and I are expecting our first baby in September (this would be a reason for my lack of blogging lately). However, this babymoon was not taken with the baby’s daddy, but instead with the baby’s granddad.
